Formworks

Iowa State University

Semester: Spring 2019

Instructor: Firat Erdim

As an elective class in the Iowa State B.Arch program, Formworks is a course that uses the artistic methods of casting in response to contemporary architectural topics. As a personal focus, my work for the course revolves around the concept of casting as a form of unveiling or revealing. In response to the writings and works of Rachel Whiteread, David Leatherbarrow, Walter Pichler, Susan Collis, Indra Kagis and others, the works featured are positions taken on concepts such as solid and void, leaky forms, action casting, weathering and others.
